Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

merry christmas

To say that I am excited about Christmas is an understatement this year.  With Little A just turning 2, this Christmas feels like its the first time he will really have a sense of what is happening and I simply cannot wait for the run-up to the big day and the excitement Christmas morning will bring.

On Christmas Eve…

We will be visiting friends and wrapping last minute presents.  I cannot wait to watch the epic Snowman’s new sequel, The Snowman and the Snowdog with Little A, although disappointingly it doesn’t incude the legendary ‘walking in the air’ score. With Little A in bed we will then usually have a roast ham for supper before the majority dash to Midnight Mass.

On Christmas Day….

I will be wearing my Pryus drop-waisted tea dress from Katie & Jo accessorised with tights, boots and a cashmere cardi to ward off the cold.  Little A will be in his red Polarn O. Pryet cords with a red polo and navy Union Jack jumper from Trotters.

Friends and family will be receiving…

Box sets of Homeland and Boardwalk Empire, Susie Pringle cashmere wraps, Tabasco jelly, Penguin’s clothbound Classics, butterfly quilts from Moochicbaby, wristwarmers in Juniper by Brora, Chapman holdalls and antiqued candlesticks from The White Company.

Under the tree we hope to find…

Lots of Brio train track, a red ‘James’ engine, a ‘George’ from PP teddy, some duplo and vintage Ladybird classics for Little A I have sourced off Ebay (anyone else remember the Little Red Hen and the Magic Porridge Pot?).  If I have been really good I am hoping to receive my annual Smythson Soho diary (still can’t beat the ole pen to paper), REN skincare goodies, Stella and Dot’s demi layering necklace and a cream tunic top by Ghost.

First thing in the morning…

We will be on Skype to Little A’s grandparents in Malaysia to wish them a Happy Christmas and watch them enviously on screen wearing shorts and t shirts whilst we are braced for snow.

Breakfast…

Will be fully cooked by Grandpa with a glass of champers on the side.  Little A will be having his favourite dippy egg and soldiers.  This year we are having ‘lunch’ around 5pm so Little A can join in the fun.  Some friends are wisely eating Christmas lunch post 7pm but I really want it to be all inclusive this year now he is now old enough to sit with us – will let you know how we get on!

The day itself…

The best thing about Christmas is family.  We will all get together and spend the morning opening presents post breakfast and no doubt Little A will be playing with the cardboard boxes and wrapping paper for most of the morning.  Then it is all up and outside for a bracing winter’s walk pre lunchtime nap.  There is nothing I like better that getting wrapped up warm, spending time outside and then the cosy feeling that envelops you when you get back.  My mum always makes amazing bespoke crackers for Christmas, which means you might be lucky enough to receive some Eve Lom Kiss Mix or Nail’s Inc varnish instead of the throwaway plastic tat that usually comes inside.  Post Christmas lunch will be spent constructing numerous train tracks, scoffing chocolates and generally bemoaning eating and drinking too much.

After 7pm…

Wind down time, Downton, a board game which will involve some element of cheating from someone and a lot of gluttony induced laughter.

Hope you have a cracker of a Christmas and there will be more from Princess and the Pram in the New Year.

Love Princess x
