If having a baby has left your tummy looking like a very poor relation of its former self and you are nervous about hitting the beach then it might be time to consider the dreaded one piece. I am haunted by the ghastly maroon numbers we were made to wear at school but having had a look around, times have changed and there are definitely some chic ones to be found. First up is this contender from Figleaves – above. If you like a print but don’t want to feel too mummyish this could be for you. Best selling point is the bikini back. It may look like you are in a cossie from the front but from the back it is simply a bikini.
Next up are these beauties from go-to holiday brand Heidi Klien. The Domenica (left) has detachable straps so no nasty strap marks whilst the ruching design on the Lille (right) controls and supports the tummy area.
At either end of the spectrum there is this beauty from Australian wonderbrand Zimmermann. Heavily patterned it will disguise lumps and bumps whilst the detachable belt will cinch you in at your slimmest point.
Slightly more purse friendly is this turquoise number from Debenhams. Designed by Melissa Odasbash for their Beach collection it has a slightly padded bandeau top, removeable straps and most importantly it has a tummy control lining – click here to view.
Top Tip: I always get a spray tan… before I go on holiday. Hides a multitude of sins and a quick way to banish first day beach blues. I go to Glo on the Fulham Road where they offer a course of 4 full body sprays for £75
